Creating a Website
1. Determine audience and purpose
Think about your site's main audience and why people will visit it.
2. Find a host
School and district Web servers
Many districts house their own Web servers and allow space for teachers if you are creating a classroom Web page.
Several places on the Web host free person Web sites such as Geocities (www.geocities.com).
3. Design your site
Layout, graphics, colors, ease of navigation
Too many graphics, colors, and fonts will take longer to load and will distract your viewers. Use a graphic organizer to help you design a site that is easy to navigate.
4. Keep it Updated
Web pages need to be updated regularly. When designing your site, keep in mind how often you will be able to update the material and create accordingly. Information should be current. New material give a reason to revisit the site.
