LET'S CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAY

MEMORIAL DAY

This day is set aside in memory of the men who have died fighting for their country.  The observance of Memorial Day began soon after the Civil War ended.  Often there are big parades on Memorial Day and people decorate the graves of dead soldiers and sailors with flowers and flags.  There is always a special ceremony at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

        FLAG DAY

The Flag is a symbol of our country.  Our flag has thirteen stripes.  The six white stripes and  seven red stripes represent the original thirteen colonies.  Our flag has fifty  white stars.  Each star stands for one  of the fifty states.  We display and salute our flag to show we are proud of our country.
